Storming the Gate – a 100 word story

Storming the Gate
by M.T. Decker

“Pete, I know it looks imposing, but I’m telling you we can sneak in…”

Peter gave Pablo a dubious look and shook his head.  “I don’t think we can sneak in, and if you ask me, we shouldn’t.  It looks like a fortress because it is a fortress: a mighty fortress.”

Much to Peter’s chagrin, Pablo wasn’t giving up.

“We could climb the tree next to it and use that to get on the roof, then it’s just a question of shimmying up the drain pipe…”

Peter sighed.  “Do you really think that’s the best way to get into heaven?”

  • Dear M. T.,

Why on earth would anyone try to sneak into heaven? That mystery aside, I loved your story and extend to you a hearty, ‘Welcome to the party, Pal!’ from all of us here at FF.

    Aloha,

    Doug

  • Dear MT,

Perhaps they should try a more direct route. This sounds a bit dicey to me.

Welcome to Friday Fictioneers. I’ll warn you that it’s addictive. As with Hotel California, you may check out anytime but you can never leave.

    shalom,

  • Last I checked, death was the most direct route. Assuming one believes in that sort of thing that is. Shimmying up the drain pipe sounds like a lot of work. Nice story.
