245-Valkyrie’s View: A Year Among the Stars

Pilot/Mechanic/Jump-Gate Navigator/Tequila explorer Kat “S-Kat” James Reporting
While the military focuses on protecting us, and G-man’s steaks marinade, we’re planet-side, cataloging the flora and fauna of Tequila Sunrise. For the most part, it’s fungus and ferns. The fauna comes in the form of bugs, lots and lots of bugs, some lizards, and lil’bit wanting me to get away from the lizards.
Everything was fine until one of the researchers got bitten. I’d been on my way to rendezvous with the fleet, but with one person from the landing party acting strangely, it only made sense to keep us contained.
By the time supper, time rolled around, I wasn’t interested in the steaks. I wasn’t hungry, and that by itself is worrisome. The fact that everyone was off their feed— yeah, that’s a serious warning sign right there.
I don’t think we’re going anywhere, any time soon.
