247-Valkyrie’s View: A Year Among the Stars
September 3rd, 2552 – Supply Routine
Pilot/Mechanic/Jump-Gate Navigator/Catering Truck Driver Kat “S-Kat” James Reporting
Sometimes I like how we fall into a routine— sometimes not so much. There’s something that’s happening to the food we brought with us – something in the atmosphere… I don’t know— all I know is it doesn’t taste right by the time you’re ready to eat and no-one wants to eat it.
So, I’ve gone from Pilot and Explorer to Catering. Every morning, I fly to the Valkyrie’s View – stop by the commissary, pick up breakfast, delivery it to the research team, check the equipment and landing craft, gather the dishes, deliver them back to the commissary along with samples for the lab lather, rinse repeat for lunch and dinner.
I can think of worse details, but I can think of a lot of better ones too. That’s one of the other issues of diversifying, yes, you can do a lot of different things, but, as low man in the chain of command, you get all the tedious work.
Still beats being grounded for the rest of your life
