272-Valkyrie’s View: A Year Among the Stars

Sometimes I think my life is a shell game. The day started out with me three diplomats, an Einherjar rep, and three guards heading planet side to talk to Baljatuun. He seems to need someone or something to talk through with the fleet out of range, there’s only so much we can do.

About forty-five minutes into our conversation the proximity alarms went off and we found a fleet arriving – not through a well but— if anything it was a symmetrical door… in space.

Jatuun tried to protect us, which started as burying us in a cave where we couldn’t be detected.
He only had a few minutes before they were in range and so he pretty much did a brain dump to me and then warped us out of our cave into the well— only I think the well he formed was inside the cave, which as far as I know is against the rules.

All I really know is I woke up in the Gumbo, with G-man flying, the reps were in the hauler section and I was laid out on the floor.

And somehow I knew everything that had happened – and I had a much better idea of how the well worked, even if I couldn’t put it into words.

“The Others had arrived, the Lasatiea. Jatuun knew they would not give us a chance if they knew we were there— so he sent us away…”

I paused, shaking my head as other things fell into place. I really couldn’t explain how, but I knew that I could open up a well within a well and that that would make our path even harder to trace.

I also knew that if Baljatuun survived the Lasatiea— he would let us know when it was safe to return.
Convincing the diplomats was difficult, but G-man and the Einherjar had learned that this is business as usual for me.

I decided not to tell them that this was when I actually learned to traverse the well, and it echoed back to younger me.

I am one step closer to the older one.
