277-Valkyrie’s View: A Year Among the Stars

Today we worked on finding places where the expansion was thick enough for us to form a well and traverse the void that way.
We had a lot of failures – but I also just knew when we’d hit the right point. I could sense Lil’Bit’s tension, and Jatuun’s warning hung heavy in my mind. But it was almost like a peaceful silence descended and I just knew.
We got through, or more the point around the void to one of the small fingers of expansion we were able to stop with our backs to the void, and again I knew – we could jump away if necessary but for now the expansion is thin enough that the Lasatiea cannot reach us and we have a controlled kill pocket if someone comes gunning for us, but of course, expansion is a constant. As near as I can tell we have a month or so where we can regroup, study what we’ve found, and give ourselves a fighting chance.
At least that’s the plan.
