With Jatuun in my head I was able to lead our expedition team away from the Lasatiea.
Through Lil’Bit I was able to understand that the only way to avoid them was to cross the void. Easier said than done.
The void is nothing and the only way to move through it is through the well. If you go with the theory that the universe is expanding at an equal rate, the void would be where the expansion is going.
The problem is, the universe is not orderly, it is chaos personified. This means that the edge isn’t a straight forward line and some areas are thinner than others. The practical offshoot is the fact that you can’t open a well in some places, and there are some places you can’t go.
If you try you end up pretty much where you started with a blinding headache. This is how I spent most of the day, as did the other pilots as we tried to work our way through the impasse.
My suggestion of moving away from the void and trying again was, in large ignored, until there was no other option since none of the jump qualified pilots were capable of opening a well without passing out.
Only then did fleet and medical discuss what was happening and, grudgingly, agreed to move away from the void and try again— tomorrow.
