285-Valkyrie’s View: A Year Among the Stars

This time when the well opened up, we had some warning and were in the process of leaving our space for another we’d been scouting when the Lasatiea were on their way.
It started with a tickle in my mind— like the kitten soothing touch in reverse, that was followed by Aziz, Lil’bit, and Jatuun bellowing at the top of their voices and minds.
It was chaotic. As we fled, Jatuun placed himself between us and the opening well. It meant that the gravity well they created was distorted, but it wasn’t distorted enough to stop them.
We managed to slip away while they were killing our friend and some of the debris found its way into our next pocket. As we regrouped I reached out and somehow, I knew that Baljatuun was still with us.
The quote that came to mind was simply “Matter can neither be created nor destroyed – it merely changes form.”
It’s a nice thought but we really need to be able to do more than run away when the Lasatiea come.
And somewhere in my mind, I heard a kitchen timer ping. I think its time to look at some of the diagrams and scans Fipps and the others had taken from the Ani fleet.
