331-Valkyrie’s View: A Year Among the Stars

November 26th, 2552 – Into the void II
Escape Pilot Kat James Reporting

The world of the void so alien, there aren’t words to describe it. Empty is wrong, it’s filled with… it is everything you imagine in the dark – sludge, the bottom of the ocean – the heart of every nightmare– a place with no life, no light, no memory, and yet it is teaming with life. There is light that the computers can detect even if we can’t, and the void is nothing but memory.

I don’t think Tower or I would have made it through if it weren’t for Askir and Almir. When we were in the void, they made sure one of them was near us at all times, there to pull us out when the void tried to invade our minds.

I was never so happy to find an escape point and as soon as we hit it, I rolled left and dove into a well I created.

It was like diving into a cool brook after working in the laundry all day: cool and refreshing. I had never felt so relieved to slip through the well and choose a familiar mirror.

According to the readings, the fleet had been there a year ago. A year. Something tells me we have found something worse than a war with the Parataph, and that would be an alliance with the void.
